A terrestrial organism is what lives on land and water both. An aquatic organism takes the oxygen from the water as it only lives under the water and so it takes the oxygen dissolved in the water but it is in less amount as the dissolved oxygen is not produced fast. But it is a benefit to the terrestrials that they can get the oxygen directly from the air when they are on land so the advantage is that the terrestrials get oxygen fast..

♤The amount of oxygen dissolved in water is fairly low as compared to the amount of oxygen present in air.
♤ the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much faster than that seen in terrestrial organisms.
♤ Fishes take in water through there mouth and force it past the gills where the dissolved oxygen is taken up by the blood.
