aquatic organisms are depend on the diffusion of oxygen which is present on the surface in larger proportion aquatic plants don't produce enough oxygen for all organisms

hence terrestrial organisms are taking oxygen directly from the larger source whereas aquatic organisms are depend on the diffusion of oxygen hence a disadvantage.

♤The amount of oxygen dissolved in water is fairly low as compared to the amount of oxygen present in air.

♤ the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much faster than that seen in terrestrial organisms.

♤ Fishes take in water through there mouth and force it past the gills where the dissolved oxygen is taken up by the blood.
