Alkanes

Alkane is also called as paraffin in General Organic chemistry. It’s a acyclic saturated hydrocarbon . It is defined as the one which contains hydrogen and carbon arranged in a tree structure in which all the carbon -carbon bonds are single.

Alkanes are saturated aliphatic organic compounds having general formula (CnH2n+2)where "n" is number of carbon atoms.

Due to presence of strong sigma bond alkanes are chemically less reactive and also called "paraffins" (less ability to combine with other atom).Alkanes are hydrocarbons.

Example

For example if you take n=1 it is formulated as C1H2+2=CH4 which is called as methane which is of alkane family..

Hope this may help you and be the brainliest !
