Alkynes:-

  • Alkynes are unsaturated hydrocarbons that have carbons bonded to each other by triple bonds.
  • The general formula of the alkyne series is CₙH₂ₙ₋₂
  • All the members of the alkyne family have suffix -yne.
  • These molecules have very high bond strength and greater than that of alkanes and alkenes.

The first member of the alkyne series is ethyne.
