<b><i>Antigens are foreign particles which are usually proteins and are capable of generating an immune response in the body. It is a property known as immunogenicity. These are substances specifically bound by antibodies or T lymphocyte antigen receptors. An antigen is any substance that causes your immune system to produce antibodies against it.

Antigensare often found on the surface of cells. The main two blood groups are called ABO (with blood types A, B, AB, and O) and Rh(with Rh D-positive or Rh D-negative blood types). There are three types of antigen presenting cells in the body: macrophages, dendritic cells and В cells.

Example of Antigens are :- The virus and bacteria that cause disease, the blood group proteins , Organ transplantation etc.
