Binary ionic compounds are named by writing the metal ion first, followed by the nonmetal. If the metal has only one ion, then the Roman numeral is not necessary. Also, Greek prefixes are not used when naming ionic compounds.

Binary compound is s a type of chemical compound which is made out of two different elements.

• The formula of the binary compounds are written in the following way :

- In the chemical structure of a binary compound there are two constituents, one metal and one non-metal.

- In the chemical formula, the metallic ion takes the first place and the non-metallic ion takes the second place.

- And,the atom numbers (if more than one atom of an element is present) are also specified in the chemical formula.
