Hi friend,
Brown dwarf refers to a celestial object intermediate in size between a giant planet and a small star, believed to emit mainly infrared radiation. They are mostly objects with mass between 15 times the mass of Jupiter and 75 times the mass of Jupiter. They are not actually brown but appear from deep red to magenta depending on their temperature.
It is also called called sub-brown dwarf or planetary-mass brown dwarf. They are also known as failed stars because they never burn fusion at their core. They are formed along with stars by the contraction of gases and dust in the interstellar medium.
Its believed that it may rain molten iron on some brown dwarf stars. Many brown dwarfs have planets around them though none of them have been found to sustain life so far.
One such brown dwarf is Gliese 229B.
Hope it helps!
