Bryophytes are a type of plants which have hidden reproductive organs and thus are also termed as 'cryptograms'. Plant body may be thalloid or differentiated into stems and leaf-like structures. True roots are absent and instead rhizoids develop. These plants do not have specialised conducting tissues. These grow on damp walls and on the bark of trees. It includes two groups, namely:- Liverworts and Mosses.

Examples:- Marchantia, Riccia, Sphagnum, Funaria, etc.

Hope it helps...:-)
