A change in which new substances are formed with new properties are called chemical change. Example of chemical change is - when we burn a paper we get Ash whose properties are different from that of paper.

A change in which no new substances are formed called physical change.

Example of physical change is - melting of wax is a physical change because on heating solid wax changes to its liquid state but no new substances is formed.
