MAIN FUNCTION OF CHROMOSOME:

Organisms grow by undergoing cell division to produce new cells and replace older, wornout cells. During this cell division, DNA must remain intact and keep its even distributionthroughout the cells. Chromosomes are important to this process to ensure the DNA is accurately replicated.

WHAT IS CHROMOSOME:

Chromosomes are thread-like structures located inside the nucleus of animal and plant cells.

WHY ARE CHROMOSOMES IMPORTANT WHAT INFORMATION THEY PROVIDE?

They contain the information our bodies need to make chemicals called proteins. Proteins form the structure of our bodies, as well playing an important role in the processes that keep us alive. Genes are made of a chemical called DNA, which is short for 'deoxyribonucleic acid'.
