Chromosomes:

➸Chromosomes are the structures present within the nuclei of the cell that contains DNA combined with proteins.

➸Chromatin refers to the material of the chromosomes.

➸Chromosomes are very dynamic structures that take several forms, but the basic organization is always related to the structure of the mitotic chromosomes.

➸Genes are located on them which needs to be transcribed for the proper functioning of the cell.

➸Chromosomes usually appear during the time of cell division.

➸In humans, there are 46 chromosomes, that can be paired as 23 homologous pairs.

➸Out of these 46 chromosomes, 44 are autosomes and 2 are allosomes or sex-chromosomes.

➸Sex chromosomes are same in a female (XX) and different in a male (XY).

homologus chromosomes:

A couple of homologous chromosomes, or homologs, are a set of one maternal and one paternal chromosome that pair up with each other inside a cell during meiosis. Homologs have the same genes in the same loci where they provide points along each chromosome which enable a pair of chromosomes to align correctly with each other before separating during meiosis. This is the basis for Mendelian inheritance which characterizes inheritance patterns of genetic material from an organism to its offspring parent developmental cell at the given time and area.

hope it helps you:)
