For example, 2 and 3 are two prime numbers. Factors of 2 are 1, 2 and factors of 3 are 1, 3. The only common factor is 1 and hence is co-prime. Any two successive numbers/ integers are always co-prime: Take any consecutive number such as 2, 3 or 3, 4 or 5, 6 and so on; they have 1 as their HCF.

Numbers which do not have any common factor other then one are called {\blue{\bf\:{prime\: numbers}}}

Example:-2, 3 5 ,7 ,11 ,13 ,17 , 19, etc..

Some properties of co-prime numbers:-

  • 1 is co - prime with every Number.

  • Every prime Number is co - prime to each other. As every prime number have only two factors one and itself, the only common factor of prime numbers will be 1

  • The sum of any two numbers are always co - prime.
