No, the co-prime are not always prime because the condition for a pair of number to be co-prime is that that should not share no common factor.

for example

let us take two co-prime number

27 and 64 factors of two numbers are

27 = 3 \times 3 \times 327=3×3×3

64 = 4 \times 4 \times 464=4×4×4

so they share no common factor so they are co-prime

but neither of them are prime number
