What are colloids? why filter paper cannot be used to separate colloids?

colloid is a heterogeneous solution in which particle size is in between 1-100nm,the colloid particles neither dissolve nor settle down..
filter papers cannot be used because the particles of colloid are too small such that it could not be separated

A colloid or a colloidal solution is a heterogeneous mixture in which one substance is displaced as very fine particles having size in the range of 1 to 100 nm , in a continuous medium for another substances.

They are heterogeneous mixture .

They can pass through filter paper .

They show Tyndall effect.

Example - Fog , cloud , milk etc.
