common names are names known at some particular place .so it cannot be known at every places.
therefore scientific names are given so that it can be use to communicate at every part of the world.eg crow is usually used india but when you go to china they would be confused to listen the word crow.they would think that he is a mad as crow word is not used in china.but when you say corvus,they will understand.
