A conventional symbol is a symbol that is widely accepted interpretation. The various features shown on a map are represented by conventional signs or symbols. For example, colors can be used to indicate a classification of roads.

Maps are one of the most important components which we use to study and perform research works related with the geography.

Due to the lack of space in the maps ,the mapmakers often use different symbols in order to represent different things on the map surface.

And these symbols are known as the conventional symbols.
