Drying - Removes moisture, water content.
             - Suitable preservation method for herbs, fruits, vegetables, pulses and cereals.

Salting and sugaring- Draws out moisture, lowers bacteria content .

Canning- Keeps the food away from the grasp of bacteria and other micro-organisms and the ones already present are killed boiling the cans.

Freezing- Avoids the growth of bacteria to spoil the food (which is packaged).

Pasteurization- For preserving liquid food, milk is boiled below 100 degrees then quickly cooled down and stored in packages in refrigerators. 

Vacuum Packing- Stores food in air-tight vacuum containers. Used for preserving nuts to prevent oxidation and strips oxygen needed by bacteria for survival.,

Other modern food preserving techniques involve-  Biopreservation, hurdle technology, non thermal plasma, irradiation, adding artificial food additives.
