There are plenty of advantages and disadvantages of using fatty oil as a lubricants 

Advantages of using Fatty oil as lubricants :-

⇒ It is biodegradable , also a less toxic and important thing is that it reduce dependency on petrol oils
⇒ vegetable oils can have highest level of lubricity, even Far better then mineral oils.
⇒ It reduce clutch slippage in a tractor or truck transmission.
⇒ Fatty oil having high flash point which is known as A temperature in which combustible liquid must be heated to give sufficient amount of vapor.

Disadvantages of using Fatty oil as lubricants :-

⇒ Fatty oil is low oxidative , It means it have less sufficient oxidation stability.So the oil will oxidised quickly, Polymerize and become thick.

⇒ Fatty oils shows the crystallization behavior. 

⇒ Fatty oils have their high pour point. so at the lowest temperature it cooled under some condition , difficulty in the vessels movement occurs. Example - coconut oil.
