Depends how thick they are. 

In the past, fake leather can be as durable and as soft (or hard) as real leather. Some leather are thinly coated to look like leather, even though they are, like leather watches, very thin, but filled with cardboard. 

Many fake leathers today, can look & feel like leather. I've had fake leather shoes that rips after a week!
