Elements are pure substances which are available in the free form in nature. They cannot be further disintegrated as they are composed of only one type of atom.
- The differences between elements and mixtures are as follows:
1. Elements are homogenous in nature whereas mixtures can be both homogenous and heterogeneous in nature.
2. Elements consist of one type of atom only whereas mixtures have a combination of various atoms.
3. Elements have definite or fixed physical properties, unlike mixtures.
4. Elements cannot be separated by physical means whereas mixtures can be separated by physical means.
Example:
Element- Oxygen, Hydrogen, etc.
Mixture- Air, salt and water, etc.
