What are energy bands in solids? How are they formed? How do we classify
solids as conductor semiconductors and insulators on the basis of energy
bands?

Answer:

there are conduction band and valence bands . if distance between conducting band valence band is less it will be a semiconductor and if the distance between conduction band and valence bond is more than it will be considered as as a n insulater
