. There are six major climatic controls. They are:

Latitude: As the earth is round, sunlight does not reach everywhere equally. The temperature decreases as we move from the equator to the poles.

Altitude: As we move from the surface of the earth to the higher altitudes, the temperature decreases.

Pressure and wind system: The pressure and wind system of any area depend on the latitude and altitude of that place. Thus, it influences the temperature accordingly.

Distance from the sea: Coastal regions are cooler as compared to interior regions. As the distance from the sea increases, its influence decreases and the people experience extreme weather conditions.

Ocean currents: Cold ocean currents flowing over a region will decrease the temperature of that area whereas warm currents will increase the temperature.

Relief features: Relief features are the barriers that block currents from entering the country. High mountains act as barriers for cold or hot winds

Factors affecting India's climate are...

. Location → The places situated near Tropic of Cancer experience extreme or continental type of climate. The Southern Peninsula, enclosrd on three sides by the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal experience equable moderate climate with coastal regions experiencing equalable climate.

.Influence of Himalayas → The great Himalaya range obstructs the bitter cold winds from Siberia and the rain-bearing south-west monsoon winds.

.Altitude → Temperature decreases with increasing altitude.

. Distance from Sea → The places situared interior have extreme continental type of climate, whereas places near the sea have equable type of land breeze and sea breeze.

. Western Disturbances and Tropical Cyclones → They cause rain in Punjab and Haryana and snowfall in the Himalayan belt.

.The upper air currents or jet streams → The upper air currents or jet streams in the upper layer of the atmosphere could determine the onset and departure of the monsoon.

Hope this helps.....
