what are fold mountains. give example.

Fold mountains originate as a result of tectonic plates converging at a plate boundary. So, any material, be it rocks, which was previously present between that convergent area will get compressed by the force experienced from both the sides and will rise up to form some disoriented layered structure.

This process takes quite a considerable amount of time for the mountains to actually appear above the Earth’s surface.

Fold mountains are mountains that form mainly by the effects of folding on layers within the upeer part of the Earth's crust. e.g. are Alps, Rockies, Andes and Himalaya
