What are fossil fuels how is their excessive use a matter of environmental concern
Answers
Fossil Fuels are source of energy from which HEAT energy is produced.
Over use of fuels creates pollution.
It also affect green house.
MARK AS BRAINLIST
Fossil fuels and their impact on our environment.
Explanation:
The dead animal and plant materials that were trapped in decomposition layers millions of years ago are converted to fossil fuels by this anaerobic decomposition. The organic matter from those organisms is converted into hydrocarbon compounds which are combustible and release large amounts of energy on ignition.
Crude oil, coal and natural gas are the most common fossil fuels.
Crude oil is purified using fractional distillation to give different fuels like petrol and diesel which are used in motorized vehicles.
Natural gas is used to produce LPG and CNG which are used as cooking and vehicular fuels.
Excessive use of these fuels is an environmental concern due to the following reasons-
- Burning fossil fuels releases large amounts of harmful green house gases which have an adverse effect on the atmosphere.
- Oil spills and dumping in oceans destroys marine life.
- Air pollution caused by these fuels causes respiratory ailments.
- These fuels are exhaustible and a total dependence on them for our energy needs is extremely dangerous.
- Many countries practice forced labor for mining of these fuels.
- The flammable nature of these fuels cause a number of disasters worldwide which cause loss of human life and property
