Functions of a flower :-

Flowers are the reproductive part of the plant. They contains male parts or female parts or both.

The male part contains pollen grains which are the male gamete of the flower.

The female part contains ovary and ovule which are the female gamete of a flower.

It forms the main part of attracting insects for helping pollination.

When a pollen grain is transported from male part to female part through pollination, male gamete fuses with female gamete to form fruits and seeds.

The seeds are used for producing new plantlets.

Flowers contain nectar which is useful for certain insects such as honeybee to produce their food.

Many flowers produce seeds which are used for extracting edible vegetable oil.
