Like animal hormones, plant hormones also stimulate growth and reproductive ability of plants. There are five major plant hormones.

  1. Gibberellin
  2. Abscisic acid
  3. Cytokinin
  4. Ethylene
  5. Auxin

Growth stimulator of plants are gibberellin, auxin and cytokinin. while ethylene and abscisic acid are growth inhibitors. ethylene also cause the ripening of fruits and flower opening. While auxin can delay fruit ripening.
