The satellites which orbit the at a height of around 35,780km above the surface of Earth parallel to the equator are called geosynchronous satellites.
These satellites orbit above the Earth parallel to the equator with the same speed as the rotation of the earth.
Hence these satellites appear to be stationary with respect to the Earth.
Geosynchronous satellites require 24hours to complete one revolution around the Earth.
As a result, they can only observe one portion of the earth continuously.

Hope this helps you!!
