Heat zones of The Earth are horizontal (latitudinal) divisions of the earth in three zones according to its average temperature. They are: The Torrid or Equatorial Zone (23.5°N to 23.5°S), Temperate Zones (23.5°N to 66.5°N & 23.5°S o 66.5°S), and Frigid or Polar Zones (66.5°N to 90°N & 66.5°S to 90°S).
They are caused by the Curvature of the earth's surface. The rays of the sun fall directly on the zone near the Equator, forming Torrid Zone, where the temperature is high. The Temperate Zones receive slanting rays of the sun, hence have cool and moderate temperature. Whereas, the Frigid Zones receive extremely slanting rays of the sun, having very cold temperature.
