Hereditary features are those features which offsprings inherit from their parents or grand parents or from any past generation of a particular family.
The basis of these features lies in inheritance of genetic factors or simply genes.
Genes are the smallest functional unit of DNA which carry and pass on information to next generation.
For example: hair color, eye color, skin color, dominant or recessive characters, etc.

Thanks for the question!!!

The mechanism by which variations are created and inherited is known as HEREDITY. Hereditary features are those traits which are passed on from one generation to another and are responsible for similar characteristics  from the parents to the offsprings. Gene can be regarded as a unit of heredity, a part of DNA and a unit of mutation. The gene carries these traits and the DNA is the genetic material.DNA is the abbreviated form of deoxy ribonucleic acid.

Hope it is helpful to you and solved your query as well!!!
