Heterotrophs are the group of organisms that eat other organisms to get nutrition from them or simply organisms that cannot produce their own food.

Explanation:

  • Most of the herbivore, carnivore, and Omnivore are heterotrophs which eat other organism to get energy. There are other modes of nutrition as well such as autotrophs, saprophytic and parasitic nature of nutrition.
  • The main counter-part of heterotroph is Autotrophic nutrition that is practiced by plants (to manufacture their food) and blue-green algae.
