The compounds of hydrogen with carbon are known as \textbf{Hydrocarbons.}

Hydrocarbons are of \textbf{two types.}

1) SaturatedSaturated and

2) Unsaturated.Unsaturated.

\underline{Saturated\:hydrocarbons} in which single bonds are present.

They are Alkanes

Formula = CnH2n+2

\underline{Unsaturated\: hydrocarbons} in which double and triple bonds are present.

Double bond = Alkenes

Formula = CnH2n

Triple bond = Alkynes

Formula = CnH2n-2
