what is the use of liver in our body? what is its function?

Liver secretes blie(containing bile salts-Na taurocholate & Na glycholate, bile pigments-Biliverdin & bilirubin,cholesterol, mucin etc) that helps in emulsification of fats. Liver also carries out glycogenesis, glycogenolysis, gluconeogenesis, lipogenesis.

It helps in haemopoiesis(in the embryo), transamination & deamination, production of plasma proteins, synthesis and storage of vitamins like A, D, E,K ,alcohol metabolism, Desaturation of fats, Phagocytosis(by Kupffer cells)
