an indicator is a 'dye'that changes colour when it is put into an acid or a base.
turmeric and litmus are natural indicators.
methyl orange and phenolphthalein.

→ Natural lndicators
lndicators derived from natural sources are called natural indicators.
eg:- Litmus, red cabbage, turmeric, china rose petals etc..
→Artificial Indicator
An indicator prepared from artificial substances is known as synthetic indicator.
eg:- are Phenolphthalein and Methyl Orange.
