Hi there

Inert gases are those whose valency is zero .
This means that their combining capacity with other elements is zero.
These gases have completed filled outer shells.
Hence , it does nor need to combine with other elements to share , give or take electrons.

Inert gases are also known as noble gases.
This is because they do not react with other elements .
These gases very rarely form compounds with the other elements.

Example :

Neon:-
Atomic no: = 10
no: of protons = 10
no: of electron = 10

electronic configuration = 2 , 8

Here , the valency of Neon is zero as it outer shell is completely filled.
Hence , it does not have the need to react with other elements to share , give or take electrons.
Hence , it is an inert or noble gas

inert gases are present in the last row in periodic table. we know that the elements are arranges according to the atomic number .the last noble gases  group has zero valency.that is, thhier outer most shell is always filled with electrons fully that will not need any more electrons to satisfy nobility.

for example ,
helium ,neon, argon etc have zero valency.

neon - 10th element.
electronic configuration - 2,8
we can see the last shell is fully filled and it wont share bonds with other elements to attain stability.
they are inert and noble in nature.

hope it helps!!!
