Intermolecular forces are forces acting between the molecules of matter. Because of these forces molecule is attached to the other. Greater the attraction between the molecules lesser will be the space between them and higher will be the density of matter. So, following is the order of strength of intermolecular forces between the various states of matter.
Solid > Liquid >Gas.
Solid > Liquid >Gas.

the forces between one molecule and other in a substance is knows as intermolecular space.
If Intermolecular spaces are minimal the molecules will be tighty packed as solid...if a little more then as liquid or if they are in a huge amount then it will be gas..
