The compounds which loses or gains electrons are known as ionic compounds.

They conduct electricity in molten state.

They are soluble in water whereas insoluble in organic compounds such as kerosene, petrol, diesel and etc.

For example : MgCl2, HCL, NaOH, CaCO3, NaCl, and etc.
