Lok Adalat is an alternative dispute mechanisms in India where remaining cases/pre litigation stage in law court are settled.

They have given statutory status under Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.

Under this act award made by Lok Adalats is deemed to be decree of civil court and is final and binding on all parties and no appeal against such an award lies in court of law.

If parties aren't satisfied with award of Lok Adalat they are free to initiate litigation by approaching court of appropriate jurisdiction.
