Ans: Macro-nutrients are those nutrients which are required in large quantities for growth and development of plants. Since they are required in large quantities, they are known asmacro-nutrient. The six macro-nutrients required by plants are nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and sulphur.

The nutrients required in large quantities are called macro nutrients. Plant require nutrients for their growth and development. There are sixteen elements that are essential for plants. Out of sixteen, thirteen are provided by the soil. Among these thirteen, six plants in large quantities and hence called macro nutrients. They are Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium and Sulphur.
