What are magnetic field lines? Justify the following statements

(a) Two magnetic field lines never intersect each other.

(b) Magnetic field lines are closed curves.

Answer:

If two lines meet, it means that force is acting in two directions at that point which is not possible. (ii) The direction of field lines outside a magnet is from north pole to south pole while it is from south to north pole inside the magnet and thus forms closed curves.
