Mandalam was the territorial division in the state of Chola which is one of its largest.

There was a total of nine Mandalam in the state including Sri Lanka whereas core Mandalam were Jayangondachola-mandalam and Chola-mandalam.

Each of them has its own distinctive cultural characteristics. Valandu was the internal and central administration of the state.
