If I answer the question in short,
Mean is a type of average
Formula: Mean=Sum of all observation/No of observation
Median is the middle value in data set
Mode is the number with highest frequency

Heya,

Mean - Average/mean that is used to derive the central tendency of a data.

=> Mean = Sum of all observations/Total no.of observations.

(or)

=> x¯ = Σfx/Σf

For example:

》Average mark of 10 students is 40,39.5,39,38,27,36.5,34,32.5,17,24

Mean = Sum of all observations/Total no.of observations
Mean = 40 + 39.5 + 39 + 38 + 27 + 36.5 + 34 + 32.5 + 17 +24/10
Mean = 327.5/10
Mean = 32.75

》Given,

Marks (x) = 5 ; 15 ; 25 ; 35
No.of students (f) = 10 ; 7 ; 3 ; 5

Solution,

Marks (x) × No.of students (f) [Σf] = fx [Σfx]

5 × 10 = 50
15 × 7 = 105
25 × 3 = 75
35 × 5 = 175

Σf = f = 10+7+3+5 = 25
Σfx = fx = 50+105+75+175 = 405

x¯ = Σfx/Σf
x¯ = 405/25
x¯ = 16.2

Mean = 16.2

Median - It is the middle most value.

=> Median = n

=> Median = n/2

For example:
》Height of 9 students are 135,160,145,150,147,152,144,148

Step 1:- (Arrange the number in ascending order) = 144,145,147,148,149,150,152,155,160

Step 2:- (Cancellation on both sides) = 149cm [left out number is the median]

Median = 149

If two numbers are left out after cancellation,

》Points scored by kabbadi team 17,2,7,27,15,5,14,8,10,24

Step 1:- (Arrange) = 2,5,7,8,10,14,15,17,24,27

Step 2:- (Cancellation) = 10,14

Median = 10 + 14/2 = 24/2 = 12

Mode - An observation which occurs most frequently.

For example:
》2,4,5,9,7,2,4,2,6,9,1,2,4

In this data, 2 is the value which occurred most frequently. So,

Mode = 2

If a number doesn't occur frequently,

》 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0

Mode = No mode

Hope my answer helps you :)

Shobana
