Mechanism of Monsoon involves the following concept, It is because while the South West Monsoon winds blow from sea to land at the end of the summer season, the North east winds blow from land to sea during the winter season. During the summer season the Indian mainland gets intensely heated up creating low pressure.

monsoons are caused due to unequal air pressure over land and water due to differential heating over a large period of time (March -first of June). The air pressure over land is low while that over the seas are high. This difference in pressure attracts the moisture bearing winds from south east direction towards the Indian subcontinent. Once it crosses the equator it changes it direction and blows as south west monsoon (due to Coriolis effect)
