Metals has following properties:
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES :
1.They are solid at room temperature. Exceptional case is of Mercury which is liquid in the room temperature.
2.Metals are lustrous or shiny in nature.
3. Metals are hard. Except Lithium,Sodium and Potassium.
4.Metals are malleable that means they can be beaten into thin sheets.
5. Metals are ductile that means they can be drawn into wires. Fact: 1gm of Gold can be drawn into 2 km of wire.
6.Metals are good conductor of heat and electricity. Silver is the best conductor of heat and electricity whereas lead is the poorest one.
7. Metals are sonorous that means they produce sound if they really beaten but sodium potassium do not produce sound when they are beaten.
CHEMICAL PROPERTIES :
1.Reaction with 02 :
They form oxidewhen reacted with oxygen. For example:
2Mg +O2 -> 2MgO
2. Reaction with Water
They form base with liberation of hydrogen gas when reacted with water. For example:
2Na + 2 H2O -> 2NaOH + H2
3.Reaction of metal with acid:
When metal is reacted with with acid then formation of metal 's salt solution and liberation of hydrogen gas is acted. For e.g. :
2Na + 2HCl -> 2NaCl + H2
I hope that this all consisted what you needed.
