Micelles is very important question for. class X 2019 it can come in paper..
Micelles formation take place when soap is added to water. This is because the hydrocarbon Chains of soap molecules are hydrophobic and are insoluble in water, but the ionic ends of soap molecular are hydrophilic and hence soluble in water.
Micelles are lipid molecules that arrange themselves in a spherical form in aqueous solutions. The formation of a micelle is a response to the amphipathic nature of fatty acids, meaning that they contain both hydrophilic regions (polar head groups) as well as hydrophobic regions (the long hydrophobic chain).
hope it helps you dear.....

Explanation:
The cleaning action of soap is due to micelle formation and emulsion formation. Inside water a unique orientation forms clusters of molecules in which the hydrophobic tails are in the interior of the cluster and the ionic ends on the surface of cluster. This results in the formation of micelle. Soap in the form of micelle cleans the dirt as the dirt will be collected at the centre of micelle.
