types of minerals:
minerals are of two types :-
1)silicate minerals or metallic minerals
2)non- silicate minerals or non- metallic mimerals

Minerals are the naturally occurring substances with a definite internal structure.
They are created by natural processes . They can be identified on the basis of their physical properties such as colour, density, hardness, and chemical property such as solubility , Example :- Diamond is the hardest metal and softest is talc.


On the basis of composition , minerals are classified as :-

Minerals are classified into three categories :-

» metallic minerals .

» Non- metallic minerals :- Example - mica, sulphur, limestone, marble, sandstone etc.

» Energy minerals :- Example - Coal, petroleum, Natural Gas.


Metallic are classified into two categories:-

» Ferrous :- Example - ( containing iron ) iron ore, manganese, nickel etc.

» Non- Ferrous :- Example - Copper, lead, tin, bauxite.
