Noctilucent clouds are very different from normal weather clouds.
As soon as it starts to get dark, if there are NLC present, you'll see towards the northern half of the sky, whisps of golden, white or 'electric blue' clouds that are obviously bright against the darkening sky.
It helps if you have a dark northern horizon, but many NLC displays are observable even from heavily light polluted sites.
