Tides are driven by the gravitational force of the moon and sun. Tides are characterized by water moving up and down over a long period of time. When used in association with water, the term "current" describes the motion of the water. Oceanic currents are driven by several factors.

There are different types of movements of ocean water under the influence ofdifferent physical characteristics like temperature, salinity, density, etc. Movements of ocean water are also affected by external forces like the sun, moon and the winds. The major movements of the ocean waters can be classified into three.

*Tides are periodic movement of sea water caused by the gravitational pull off moon or sun..There are 2 types of tide 1)High Tide 2)Low Tide.
In high tide the level of water increases from normal nd in Low tide the level of water decreases from normal.
*Ocean currents are formed due to to movement of wind. Ocean currents along with onshore winds affect the climate of coastal areas. There are 2 types of Ocean Currents 1)Warm Currents 2)Cold currents
while cold current there will be no rain in coastal areas while there will be rain during warm currents..

Hope this will help:)
