That’s the carrier for the solution.There are a lot of different pesticides with a lot of different modes of action, each of which is going to have a different chemical formulation.Probably the most well known of these is the herbicide RoundUp, active ingredient Glyphosate, chemical formula C3H8NO5P.

Many pesticides also include aSurfactantto cut the surface tension of the carrier water. By far, the majority of the applied chemical is water.
