Pisces is a class inside the chordata, which itself belongs to Kingdom Animalia. It consists of fishes. Its main characteristics are-

1. Adapted to aquatic life.

2. Heart is two-chambered.

3. Respiration through gills.

4. Cold blooded or poikilothermal.

5. Body is covered with scales.

6. They have fins for locomotion.

Pisces class is divided into two parts-

1. Cartilagenous fishes(Skeleton made of cartilage)

e.g-- Scoliodon(Dogfish), Electric Ray(Torpedo)

2. Bony fishes(Skeleton made of bones)

e.g-- Labeo(Rohu), Sea-horse(Hippocampus)
