hey mate!! here's ur answer..
these are the roots found in plants inhabiting the marshy areas. they are special type of erect roots for breathing. Normal roots are saturated with water so there will be poor aeration. so the pneumatophores are also called as, breathing roots. these roots posses pores called as breathing pores or pneumatophores for gas exchange. example:Avicennia.
